Sights | Sounds: exploring a century of change
How can we understand the extent of environmental change when changes began before we were born? Can we deeply feel these changes or is our current reality so different that it limits understanding?
Photographer Mary Whalen and I bring together art and science to understand and visualize environmental change. Our work merges photographs of museum specimens and landscapes with soundscape recordings and data visualization to experience changes in grassland bird communities over the last century.
